"The hyped AGP-BJP alliance is not at all going to affect the prospects of the Congress which has remained as the most popular party in the State," State party president Bhubaneswar Kalita said.
People were aware of the "misdeeds" of the two parties when they were in power and also the development that took place during the two subsequent Congress governments in the state, Mr. Kalita told reporters.
"The people know that only the Congress is capable to bring back the state to the path of development and so the AGP-BJP alliance will in fact help the ruling party," he said.
Kalita denied there was any rift within the party over candidates' selection and said that by March 15 the list of nominees will be announced.
