A two-time Minister of Home and Finance during the regime of Mukut Mithi and now lone Rajya Sabha member in the State, Wanglet was one of the strong contenders for Arunachal East Parliamentary seat from amongst five aspirants.Former Deputy Speaker Ninong Ering has been nominated as the official candidate of the party for the same seat.
In a letter addressed to the party president Nabam Tuki, Wanglet said, “I am tendering my resignation from the primary membership of Indian National Congress (INC), as the party has failed to recognize my contribution.”
