Congress to field local against Advani in Gandhinagar

New Delhi, Mar 7 : Congress is unlikely to field any outsider against BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani from his pocketborough of Gandhinagar in Gujarat in Lok Sabha elections.

"We are thinking of a local candidate", said a senior leader when asked whether there are any plans to field any outsider celebrity to take on Advani who is representing the seat since 1991.

In the last elections, Congress had fielded a local Gambhaji Thakur against Advani.

Sometime back, Congress had put up former Chief Election Commissioner T N Seshan against the BJP leader.

Advani had once contested from New Delhi constituency where he was given a tough fight by cinestar-turned-politician Rajesh Khanna of Congress.

This time, BJP could be zeroeing on film star Hema Malini for New Delhi constituency currently being represented by Union Minister Ajay Maken of Congress and could field cricketer Kirti Azad from East Delhi.
