Coming down hard on BJP leader and prime ministerial candidate LK Advani, Moily said that Advani had the habit of visiting a State and dividing it by poisoning the people’s mind. “The BJP will, however, find few takers this time, as people have seen through its bankrupt ideology. The national wave is against the BJP’s politics of hatred,” he said, adding that several of its allies had already deserted it.
Accusing the AGP, the main opposition in Assam, of surrendering before the BJP by entering into an alliance, Moily predicted that both the AGP and the BJP would meet their ‘Waterloo’ in the State in the coming polls. “This would be the end of AGP and BJP as far as Assam is concerned,” he said.
Reasoning that Assam progressed a lot with the UPA Government at Centre compared to the situation during the NDA rule, Moily said that sectors like flood control, health, education, power, etc., witnessed substantial investments while the GDP and per capita income too registered rapid growth.
On the infiltration front, Moily said that the BJP had never been sincere in checking infiltration and most of the initiatives including better border vigilance and updating of the NRC were started under the Congress regime.
Moily claimed that the Congress-led UPA alone was capable of providing a stable political, economic and social situation in the country, and that the BJP was a threat to democracy.
