Former AICC general secretary Margaret Alva and AICC media department chief M Veerappa Moily are amongst the eight candidates, whose names were announced by the Congress to contest the Lok Sabha elections today.
Alva will contest the election from Uttara Kannada constituency while Moily would contest the polls from Chikkballapur, both in Karnataka.
In another major announcement, the Congress chose Suresh Patel to take on BJP's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani from Gandhinagar constituency in Gujarat.
Congress also decided to field Mahabal Mishra from West Delhi. With the announcement of Mishra's name, all seven candidates of the party for Delhi have been selected.
Other candidates include Bhavnaben Anil Patel from Navsari in Gujarat, Jai Prakash Hegde from Udupi Chikmaglur in Karnataka, Dhruv Narayan from Chamrajnagar in Karnataka and youth Congress leader Krishna Byre Gowda from Bangalore South.
